The Cutest Face

After a year of painting, writing, designing and hustling… Dave and I have successfully self published our first book!  It has been a very exciting and rewarding journey.  We learned a lot and know this is just the beginning of our book-making-lives.  To get catalogued and receive an ISBN# as self publishers, we had to start www.zakbooks.com, our publishing company.  This book is being sold online at www.cutestfacebook.com, hardcover for $15 CAD. We have a strong marketing plan and cannot wait to receive the rest our book shipment in June 2010 when the boat comes in.  We worked with an amazing printer in Singapore, TWP, who had incredible customer service and held our hand through the whole process. Big thanks go out to Matt and Mike at TWP New York and Singapore.

The Cutest Face is targeted toward school boards and fits directly with their goal of promoting diversity and inclusion in the classrooms.  We have selected a great market and hope to get copies into every school and public library.

Here’s to many sales and many more books! (*Cheers!)

If you have a book idea, let’s chat about it!

Portrait of the Artist/Researcher/Teacher: A Reflection on the Nature of Learning

My Masters Research Paper, written as part of my Master of Education degree and published by the Journal of Unschooling and Alternative Learning, 2009.

Abstract: This research paints a portrait–both literally and figuratively–of the practice of an artist/researcher/teacher. Arts-based inquiry is used as a methodology for self-examination into the art, research, and teaching practice of the author, using the critical theories of unschooling and a/r/tography as a contextual platform.
